Built on a tradition of rigorous research and faculty expertise, The ÎÞÂëרÇø PhD in Computer Science is the first of its kind in the Lower Hudson Valley. As a highly selective program that only accepts students with proven research experience, this is a computer science doctorate built on focused and individualized teaching. As a student, you’ll work directly with our renowned faculty to make novel, innovative contributions to the field of computer science.

At the Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems, you’ll regularly meet, collaborate with, and be mentored by a vast network of accomplished faculty and alumni. As you work on your dissertation research project, you will receive continuous support to publish and present your work at networking events and conferences around the world.

Curriculum

The primary feature distinguishing the doctor of philosophy degree is the ability to make original and innovative contributions to a field of study through one's research efforts. The PhD in Computer Science is designed to produce productive research scholars who will typically assume academic positions in their chosen fields. Through class work and mentoring relationships with faculty, students obtain state-of-the-art theoretical and methodological foundations to design and conduct this research independently.

Admission and Financial Aid

    • A personal statement explaining to the Graduate Admission Committee why you would like to pursue the program of graduate study you have chosen. Additional information regarding your academic performance, as well as professional experience, may also be included in the supplement.
    • A resume or outline describing at least the past five years of your employment history and any significant community, professional, or college extracurricular activities.
    • Applicants need 2 letters of recommendation. Letters should be from academic or professional references that can knowledgeably comment on your ability to successfully complete graduate study. Include recognitions and achievements (e.g. licenses, publications, and awards).
    • All Official Transcripts: Transcripts from every accredited college or university attended (not just the degree granting institution) must be sent either to ÎÞÂëרÇø, directly from the academic institution electronically or by mail, or forwarded by the applicant in sealed envelopes from the academic institution.
    • A general GRE score, no more than five years old, is required for the PhD in Computer Science.
