This course illustrates and reviews initiatives taken by local governments and other stakeholders to achieve sustainable development, and the important opportunities to manage, mitigate and adopt to changing national and local environmental policies and regulations. The course provides advanced land use tools and techniques throughout the Semester. The course utilizes topic-based assignments, reports and various group exercises and simulations to enhance the learning environment, and assist students in understanding the relationship between land use and public policy, technical legal skills, foundation environmental and administrative doctrines and importantly, pragmatic learning and practice dynamics. The professor will emphasize how communities and effected stakeholders respond and adopt to critical environmental impacts and challenges.
